Technology One helps give a voice to autistic children

Technology One is proud to be a major sponsor of AEIOU’s Sing for Kids event on Friday 28th October, helping to give a voice to autistic children.

AEIOU (Autism Early Intervention Outcomes Unit), Queensland's first and only early intervention program for children with autism, has thrown down the gauntlet for Brisbane's best karaoke singers to join them for a night of singing, dancing, fine-dining and revelry, whilst raising much need funds to support young children with autism.

AEIOU Chairman Dr James Morton said more than 150 Queensland children are diagnosed with autism each year.

“Conservative estimates suggest 1 in 300 children are affected by autism, a developmental disability that affects a person’s understanding and participation in communication, social understanding and the ability to adapt to an environment.

“The Sing for Kids concept has been designed to promote the fact that whilst autistic children may struggle with daily communication, they often have a fantastic ability to sing.

“We hope that the event will go a long way to raise awareness for autism and the need for an early intervention program that significantly improves the chances of a child with autism learning new skills and adapting to their environment.”

Mr Morton said he was pleased to welcome Technology One as the major sponsor of the event.

“Technology One has demonstrated a strong commitment to AEIOU with sponsorship of this event,” he said.

“Its great to see that the company is helping to build a brighter future for children with autism.”

Triple M's Ian Skippen and Greg Martin are MC's for Sing for Kids, working their way through a 'Classic Karaoke Songs' List from which guests can bid to sing. Other special guests on the evening include Channel Nine's Today presenter Karl Stefanovic and former Brisbane Bronco Kevin Walters.
