Tech giant closes high profile education deals in 2016

Tech giant TechnologyOne (ASX:TNE) has closed a breakthrough year in the education sector, signing a number of high profile new customers across the globe in 2016.

New deals included TAFE Queensland and La Trobe University in Australia, and the United Kingdom’s West London College, Glasgow Clyde College, West College Scotland, Dundee University and the University of Exeter, which is one of the top ten ranked universities in the UK. La Trobe University will also be the first university in Australia to go live with a Software as a Service (SaaS) Student Management solution.

The enterprise SaaS provider says with these key deals it is now empowering more than one million students to access their academic information across 118 campuses.

“Education is one of the key markets in which we operate. We have more than 28 years of experience of delivering proven software solutions for universities, TAFEs and schools, giving us a deep understanding of the industry,” said TechnologyOne’s Executive Chairman Adrian Di Marco. “Our deep engagement with the education sector means we can deliver integrated, preconfigured solutions that provide proven practice business processes, streamline implementations and reduce associated time, cost and risk.

“Our software is empowering a whole new generation of digital natives, who expect their information to be instantly available, from any device, anywhere, any time.”

Mr Di Marco commented that all major education deals in 2016 were for its SaaS offering, signifying that the sector is becoming more sophisticated in understanding the cost and efficiency benefits true enterprise SaaS offers.

TechnologyOne also received considerable market recognition for the success of its education enterprise SaaS solution, with OneUniversity winning the 2016 UK Cloud Award for ERP Product of the Year and the 2016 SaaS award for Best SaaS Product for Non-Profits or Education.

With the majority of new education customers coming from the United Kingdom, this sector has emerged as a clear target market for the software provider and is spearheading the company’s growth in this region. TechnologyOne has previously signalled that the UK would be a key contributor to profit growth in the long term.

“We value building true long-term partnerships with our customers, to understand their needs,” Mr Di Marco said. “This is clearly resonating with our customers in Australia and the UK, and has underpinned our success in the education sector this year.”
