Hacking Australia’s biggest water event

TechnologyOne recently sponsored OzWater’s inaugural Water Hack in Sydney at Australia’s biggest water event.

Over 3,000 delegates gathered at the International Convention Centre in Sydney for OzWater - from water authorities to industry service providers - for three days of innovative discussion and creative problem solving.

TechnologyOne hosted Water Hack at its booth, bringing together 20 to 30 water industry innovators to hack a variety of challenges affecting the sector. Key organisations in attendance included Sydney Water and Yarra Valley Water.

TechnologyOne’s Asset Intensive Industry Manager, Mr Gordon Sterling, says the company has experienced success with internal Hack Days and wants to pass along those benefits to customers in the water industry.

“TechnologyOne is involved in the Water Hack because we’ve had so much success doing it ourselves internally, and we’d like to take that to our customers, and see what we can do in that space,” said Mr Sterling.

One outcome of the Water Hack was the development of an ‘invisible utility’ concept, where service providers deliver streamlined, optimised and personalised customer experience that renders processes and complications ‘invisible’ to the customer.

TechnologyOne has a strong presence in the water industry, with over 100 water customers - including water authorities and councils.

Events such as OzWater’s Water Hack provide opportunity to keep the conversation going about ways to manage one of Australia’s most vital resources.
